The Honduras Electric Energy National Company (ENEE) claims that the country has the potential to reach 1200 MW of installed wind power capacity in the long term.

According to Revista Eolica y del Vehiculo Electrico, the country currently has 102 MW of installed capacity through its single wind farm, Cerro de Hula, which is due to be expanded by 24 MW this year.

Honduras has a diverse landscape but the regions of Roatan, Utila, La Mosquitia and Choluteca, in the centre and south of the country, have been identified as the best locations for wind farms.
