Germany’s E.ON is to build a 228 MW onshore windfarm in the US.

The Bruenning’s Breeze project in Texas will mark E.ON’s 22nd windfarm in the US.

It will comprise 76 turbines, all 3 MW and provided by German manufacturer Nordex, and is scheduled for commissioning at the end of next year.

Michael Lewis, chief executive E.ON Climate & Renewables, said the project go ahead “reflects our strong commitment to further develop renewables in the US market”.

He added that “projects like Bruenning’s Breeze demonstrate that we are clearly competitive with conventional power and we will continue our goal to further drive down the costs of renewable energy.”

The windfarm is named after Michelle Bruenning, a member of the E.ON US legal team who passed away from cancer in 2014.
