Enel to build a 130 MW wind farm in Chile

Enel Green Power, a subsidiary of the Italian utility Enel, has been awarded the construction contract for a 130 MW wind farm in Chile.

The project will be located in Sierra Gorda, in the northern region of Antofagasta, according to Revista Eolica y del Vehiculo Electrico.

The farm’s output will be added to the company’s existing 6.4 GW capacity installed in Chile, and by 2020 Enel hopes to have raised this to 11.3 GW.

The company is planning to make a number of important investments in Chile, and believes that renewable energies, rather than conventional fuels, should used to meet Chile’s growing energy demand.
