Enel starts up 206 MW trio of Romanian wind farms

Romania‘s wind power capacity has been boosted by 206 MW after three new wind farms have gone on-line.

The wind farms have been built by Italian renewable energy company Enel Green Power and mark an total investment for the firm of EUR340m ($403m).

All the wind farms are located in the Dobrogea region of Romania, with the largest comprising 52 turbines and the smallest 11 turbines.

Enel Green Power claims to have reached a total installed wind capacity of around 500 MW in Romania, while its total installed renewables capacity worldwide is 7800 MW.

Romania’s wind power capacity grew from 12 MW in 2009 to 1440 MW in September 2012, with an additional 600 MW also under construction.
