Mexico’s CFE is in the process of preparing tenders for the three stages of the La Rumorosa wind complex, due to be developed in the state of Baja California.

The three stages to be constructed are La Rumorosa I, II and III, each with a capacity of 100 MW, reports BNamericas.

CFE is expected to issue the calls for the three wind farms next April under the independent power producer model, i.e. the winning companies are awarded 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the state-owned utility.

La Rumorosa is a dry, mountainous area near the border with the US and is recognized as having some of the best wind power potential in Mexico.
