Aneel, Brazil’s electricity regulatory authority, confirmed it has received requests for independent power producers (IPPs) license for 20 wind farms totalling 409.5 MW.

The requests are for Umburanas 1 to Umburanas 18, as well as for Umburanas 20 and 21.

They form part of the Umburanas wind power complex in the Sento Se municipality in the north-eastern Bahia state, reports Seenews.

The complex is owned by local wind power developer Moinhos de Vento Energia SA

The IPPS will sell their surplus energy and distribute it to large consumers, but they must pay concessionaires to use the transmission lines.
