China-headquartered photovoltaic company Trina Solar (NYSE: TSL) has signed a deal to supply 48 MW of solar modules for two power plants in India for ACME Cleantech Solutions.

The ground-mounted solar plants are set to provide an annual output of 81.6 GWh.

Zhiguo Zhu, president of Trina’s module business unit, said: “We are seeing a significant pick up in the adoption of solar power in India this year and we are delighted to be taking part in the growth.”

He added that “India is no doubt a robust and growing emerging market for solar energy”.
