Solar telecoms in North Africa

Carmanah Technologies Corporation has received an initial US$1 million order from Lyon, France-based telecom provider TWIST to supply solar power systems for a project in North Africa.

Stand-alone solar systems will power a network of telecommunications towers.

According to Ted Lattimore, CEO of Carmanah, as a part of an ongoing project with an estimated value of up to $6 million over the next three years, the telecoms sector represents a significant market opportunity. Said Lattimore: ‘Considering the remote locations of many of these installations, it’s easy to see the appeal. A solar power system is durable, reliable and convenient; just install it wherever you need power.’
