Scotland’s Renfrewshire Council has appointed Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on the roofs of four high schools.

The schools: Gryffe, Castlehead, Johnstone and Trinity High School, each saw a 10 kW system installed. C&K managed the entire project and fully commissioned the system.

The first phase of Renfrewshire Council’s solar panel project was completed at five schools in 2014 and the installations are now moving on to local care homes and other schools. A total of 12 installations are envisaged as part of the plan.

Councillor Iain McMillan, Health and Social Care Convener, had previously said: ‘Across these 12 sites combined, the solar panels will cut 48 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually – meaning we’re taking a significant step forward in our commitment to be a greener council.’
