Singapore’s Seletar walkway is the site of a new Building Integrated Organic PV (BIOPV) system, claimed as Asia’s largest such development.

The 30 square metres of Heliafilm, with an average cell efficiency of 7%, have been installed on the walkway roof by Trium, partner to solar system manufacturer Heliatek

The firm says its organic, molecule-based solar technology is less than 1 mm in thickness, using two solar cells of around 250 nm stacked on top of each other to achieve 50% transparency to light.

Heliatek said its system fit the walkway roof ‘perfectly despite its uneven shaped aluminium top structure’.
