A new power plant is to be built in Saudi Arabia by the Saudi Electricity Company.
The plant will be constructed at Makkah and replace an existing facility at Al-Umrah which will be taken offline.
Saudi Electricity’s chief executive Ali Al-Barrak said that the new plant would be fully operational in four years and would coincide with “the unification of the power grid in the entire Kingdom”.
Al-Barrak also revealed that the company is looking into the use of solar energy and is experimenting with PV panels at a sub-station in Jazan.
