Nissan is now offering its solar and battery storage system in the UK, with homeowners potentially saving up to 66 per cent on their energy bills as a result of installation.

The automotive giant says consumers can choose to buy either new or second life batteries from Nissan EVs – the firm adds these will be used to give increased independence from the national grid and electricity suppliers as well as the ability to generate, store and manage energy for use overnight.

Gareth Dunsmore, Electric Vehicle (EV) Director of Nissan Europe, said: “Nissan Energy Solar is a complete system for home energy generation, management and storage.

“It enables UK homeowners to make significant savings on their household electricity bills and become champions of sustainability and green technology.”

“More than 880,000 people in the UK already use solar panels and this fully integrated solution brings a fresh opportunity to grow this number exponentially over the coming years,” Dunsmore added.
