An on-site PV-diesel-hybrid power plant is under development to provide power for the Nova nickel mine (pictured) owned by Sirius Resources NL and located in Australia.
A joint venture between Zenith Pacific and SOLEA AG will use a 20 MW diesel power station combined with a 6.7 MW of photovoltaic to power the nickel mine, supplying some 12.5 GWh annually.
Zenith Pacific will own, operate and maintain both the PV and the diesel power station which are being developed at zero capital cost to Sirius.
The new project is expected to save Sirius more than 3 million litres of diesel and 8000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. It is being built at Independence Group’s Nova nickel mine in the Fraser Range in Western Australia.
