Mainstream gains approval for solar farm EIS

The environmental evaluation service of the Chilean region of Coquimbo has approved Mainstream Renewable Power’s environmental impact study (EIS) for its Estancia solar power plant.

Diario Financiero reports that this project will be located in La Higuera municipality, and will cover an area of 147 hectares.

The plant, which will comprise 288,000 solar cells, will have an installed capacity of 86 MW and an expected operating life of 25 years.

The area where the project is being developed is well known for its high solar radiation.
