French solar PV farm comes online

The Les Mees solar farm, which comprises a total of six photovoltaic (PV) power plants located in the south of France, has entered commercial operation.

This solar project, which was conducted by Siemens Energy on a turnkey basis, now generates a combined peak output of 31 MWp, producing sufficient electricity for 12 000 typical French households.

The customer was project developer Eco Delta Développement, and its subsidiary Delta Solar developed the PV farm.

The Les Mees solar farm, which is located at an elevation of 800 metres above sea level on the La Colle des Mées plateau, comprises a total of 112 000 solar modules covering an area of 70 hectares.

Under the terms of the turnkey installation Siemens was also responsible for the grid connection and the control systems, and for supply and installation of the inverters, low- and medium-voltage components, and transformers.

Furthermore, Siemens was also responsible for the civil works and substructure, and will also perform maintenance on the solar power plants.

According to Siemens, the six PV plants were erected in ten months.
