Enel Green Power, Centro Ingrosso Sviluppo Campania and Interporto Campano have signed an agreement for the installation, in Campania, of a 25 MW photovoltaic (PV) plant, said to be the largest integrated roof-top project with innovative technology in Italy and one of the largest in the world.

The plant, which will be owned by Enel Green Power and built in the town of Nola, in the Province of Naples, will be installed on the roofs of commercial and logistics properties, with full integration with the existing architecture. Equipped with innovative flexible amorphous silicon thin-film photovoltaic modules, it will begin to operate in 2010.

Once fully operational, the plant will be capable of producing approximately 33 GWh of power each year, thereby avoiding the emission of more than 21,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, according to Enel.
