Enel has continued to expand its renewable portfolio with the completion of several projects in Greece and Italy.

Enel Green Power‘s 5 MW Kouloukonas wind farm on Crete, featuring six 850 kW turbines, has now entered full operation.

Francesco Starace, Enel Green Power’s CEO, said Greece is showing a high level of interest in the renewable sector.

“We are pursuing further growth as well as strengthening our position in the country through an additional 40 MW wind, hydro and photovoltaic projects in execution,” he said.

Enel Green Power has also recently brought online a 6 MW photovoltaic plant in Canari and connected its enlarged 6.6 MW Serre Persano plant to the grid.

In addition, Enel Green Power is currently installing solar power systems on the rooftops of Interporto Campano in Naples, which the company claims will be the largest rooftop photovoltaic system in Europe using thin-film technology.
