Construction start for Navy on-site PV plant

A 30 MW AC on-site solar generation facility is being developed at the US Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE) Kings Bay, located near St. Marys, Georgia in the USA.

The fourth large-scale solar project with the military started by Georgia Power this year – three other 30 MW facilities are currently under construction at U.S. Army bases Fort Gordon, Fort Stewart and Fort Benning ” the project is expected to occupy 258 acres on the base and utilize approximately 136,000 ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) panels.à‚ 

Expected to come online by the end of 2016, the SUBASE Kings Bay is estimated to cost some US$75 million.à‚ à‚ à‚
