RES Offshore has successfully completed its first Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) contract for the design and installation of a Met Mast for the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm.
Having been awarded the contract in June 2013, RES has project managed the design, fabrication and installation of the Met Mast within 12 months, completing the project handover in August this year.
RES informed Power Engineering International that the mast has been successfully gathering data for the last 3 months for the 389 MW DONG Energy and Scottish Power Renewables-owned Irish Sea project.
GeoSea installed the Met Mast, using jack-up vessel Innovation while RES specialist instrumentation engineers designed and installed the instrumentation and communication systems.
Charlie Jordan, ScottishPower Renewables Project Director said, the data, now available via the Met Mast, will be incredibly valuable as a key performance management tool that will effectively support the optimised performance of the wind farm.”
