Peru limits renewable energy in future plans

Renewable energy will not play a key role in the government of Peru’s National Energy Plan for the 2014-2025 period. Wind, solar and biomass projects to be developed in the next decade will add only 200 MW to the country’s electricity production.

Energàƒas Renovables magazine reports that natural gas and hydropower plants will be the most supported power projects in Peru, a country with a growing electricity demand.

Thermal and hydropower projects will receive investments valued at approximately $50bn between the present moment and 2025.
