The Phase I expansion to add 36 MW to a 10 MW geothermal power plant at San Jacinto-Tizate in northwest Nicaragua is underway and the unit is due to start commercial operation in December, says Ram Power Corp.

The first phase of the 36 MW project has reached mechanical completion, overcoming earlier delays and increased costs, said the Canadian company.

A further 36 MW expansion of the San Jacinto-Tizate site is due to complete next year.

The company claims its pipeline of projects in Nicaragua, Canada, California and Nevada now totals 634 MW.
