Mexican company Cemex, which produces cement and other construction materials, is creating a subsidiary company specializing in the electric sector.
El Economista newspaper said that the new company’s goal is to operate about 3500 MW within the next five to seven years.
Cemex Energía will construct cogeneration plants using gas from cement ovens. Besides, it will make a bet for renewable energy sources.
Cemex will also produce eco-friendly stoves to be supplied to people who still use wood stoves. Wood stoves are considered a risk for their users’ health and also for forest preservation.
