The 100 MW biomass boiler will utilize bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) technology. The plant is due to start commercial operation in 2013, running mainly on waste wood from logging and mill activity as well as urban wood waste.
Metso’s complete delivery includes the boiler island and flue gas cleaning system along with the entire power plant automation system.
GREC’s 100 MW boiler will be one of the largest and most efficient biomass boilers in the world, said Metso. The contract follows the Finnish company’s participation in the 100 MW Nacogdoches Power biomass project in east Texas.
