Honduras’ National Electric Energy Company (ENEE) approved 23 solar photovoltaic (PV) projects over the past summer, with a total installed capacity of 609.2 MW.
Local newspaper El Heraldo said between $2.7m and $3m will be required for every MW installed. In other words, Honduras’ PV plans will need between $1.6bn and $1.8bn.
The solar farms are expected to be finished within 18 months, with the first expected to be operational in the first six months of 2015.
The cost per kWh will vary between $0.15 and $0.16.
