The plants are planned to have a peak capacity of 18.4 MW, with the average capacity being 15-200 kWp.
“The largest one will be located in West Papua, with a total capacity of 3 MW,” Maritje Hutapea, the ministry’s director of new and renewable energy, was quoted as saying. Other plants are to be built in eastern regions such as Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi.
The auction is part of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ tender for a total of 169 renewable power projects.
The winning projects will be announced after the auction closes at the end of this month.
