Santo Antonio Energia, which operates the Santo Antonio hydropower plant in Brazil (pictured), will contest a ruling by the country’s National Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) regarding compensation payments for losses incurred due to turbine failures.

Santo Antonio officials claim that national grid operator ONS did not allow the company to fully use the turbines during a flood episode. Santo Antonio added that ONS wanted the firm to produce energy without developing the best strategy for the use of its maximum potential generating capacity.
