El Tablón, a project to construct a multipurpose hydropower plant in Honduras, is attracting interest from local and foreign companies including firms from Colombia and Israel.

The future power plant will have an installed capacity of 18 MW and will form a reservoir able to store 467 million cubic metres, making it possible to control floods in the Sula Valley.

According to the Coalianza promotion agency, the project will require an investment of $167m.

Coalianza’s plans include a second multipurpose hydropower plant in the Choluteca river basin.
