International concerns are unlikely to hinder financing for Ethiopia’s hydro programme, said Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.
“Because we are funding most of our projects from our own resources, it should not affect it,” he said, according to Bloomberg.
Ethiopia said last month it planned to offer more bonds to finance the 5.25 GW Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam after selling 7bn birr ($408m) of debt domestically in the past six months.
Ethiopia started building the hydro plant in April as part of its efforts to become a regional power exporter.
