The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has recently announced it will provide $ 57.5m to finance the expansion of a hydroelectric plant in El Salvador, the Agence France Presse reports.

The investment will fund the capacity expansion of the 5 de Noviembre hydroelectric plant, enabling it to produce more clean energy, said Nick Rischbieth, executive president of the regional bank.

The hydropower facility is located in the northern part of El Salvador.

“The expansion projects includes the design, construction and execution of two 40 MW generators, which will increase capacity from 99.4 MW to 179.4 MW, ” the bank said in a statement.
