Aaktei Energia, a Chilean power company, has revised the estimated investment in its 11.5 MW El Pinar run-of-river project to $ 23.4m, reports say, citing a recently published environmental impact declaration.

The plant cost was initially estimated at $19.5m.

It is expected to be built in the Cholguan basin in the Biobio region, and to supply Chile’s SIC network, SeeNews Renewables reports.

In addition, the electricity will now be transmitted through a planned 66 kV line, while the original project included a 23 kV line, the report said.

The hydropower plant will produce 70.5 GWh a year, which is sufficient to satisfy the typical consumption of 23,500 people in Chile.
