Alstom (Euronext: ALO) have been awarded a $269m contract to supply equipment to the Ituango hydroelectric power plant in Colombia.

Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) awarded the contract for the plant near Medellin and the French company will deliver eight 300MW Francis turbines and eight generators along with speed regulators and excitation systems.

Alstom has supplied 30 per cent of the hydro power generation infrastructure in Latin America, where it has been present for over 50 years.
