Honduras is to pay an extra $0.03 per kWh for a total of 10 solar photovoltaic (PV) plants with a combined capacity of 300 MW, installed by the end of July, officials at the state-owned power company Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica (ENEE) have said.

The bonus was offered in addition to Honduras’ incentive price for renewable energy to promote the construction of solar plants despite worries over the higher prices.

ENEE had said the completion of 233 MW until recently when other plants were still being tested.

The company will pay nearly $8.9 million per month for the 300 MW.
