GE targets Turkish wind power potential

GE is set to invest over $5bn in the wind power sector in Turkey.

The Sabah newspaper reports that America’s largest wind turbine manufacturers’ plans will transform the sector in the country.

Core to the strategy is the establishment of a wind energy turbine factory.

Green Prophet reports that Turkey, now experiencing the fastest rise in electricity consumption in the world, after China, will be doubling its electricity consumption by 2023, with 20000 MW of power wind energy designated to come from wind power.

GE, on its website estimates that Turkey has 48000 megawatts of potential wind power capacity.
