GE enters Brazilian solar PV market

MPX Energia, a leading Brazilian energy company, and GE have signed an agreement to double the capacity of the Taua photovoltaic (PV) plant, which was recently installed in the state of Ceara.

With a current capacity of 1 MW the Taua solar farm is described as the first such plant in Latin America r.

The US OEM will provide the equipment system and technology for the expansion of the PV plant. This order is said to represent GE’s first foray into Brazilian solar PV market.

The expansion of the plant is due to begin in the coming weeks and is expected to be completed during the first six months of next year.

The investment in the plant expansion will be $6m, and a total of 6900 new PV panels will be installed.
