Fortum and DCNS have agreed to establish a wave power project in France.

A joint feasibility study for a wave power demonstration project is planned to get underway by the year-end under a letter of intent on co-operation signed on 10 October.

Fortum has been engaged in developing wave energy since 2007. The company is already participating in two projects aimed at building demonstration wave power plants in Sweden and Portugal.

WaveRoller, a technology developed by Finnish company AW-Energy, is being considered for the French project to be developed by Fortum and DCNS.
