EI study submitted for large Chilean wind farm

Callis Energia Chile Ltda, a Chilean power firm, has submitted an environmental impact (EI) study for the construction of a $250m wind project in the country’s southern Los Lagos region, ADPnews Latin America reports.

The wind facility will have a maximum installed capacity of 120 MW, the report added.

The wind farm is being built in the Ancud municipality and will be located close to an existing 220 kV transmission line, which means that the company will not need to build its own power line.

Its construction is scheduled to begin in January 2013 and last 15 months.
