An authoritative guide to connecting distributed generation in Ireland has been published by the country’s energy agency, Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI). The guide is designed to help Irish industry and business to benefit by developing on-site generation to secure their energy costs against future price shocks.

The development follows the completion of two key documents by Senergy Econnect, a guide covering the process for connecting medium to large-scale renewable and CHP plant to the ESB transmission and distribution networks, operated by EirGrid together with a brief guideline document on the process of connecting micro-generation to the grid.

SEI’s John McCann said: ‘The guides will provide a valuable aid to the rapidly increasing numbers of renewable and CHP electricity generators applying for electricity network connections.’
