Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a contract for independent power producer advisory services for a 200 MW concentrated solar power plant.

The deal has been won by a consortium led by KPMG Lower Gulf, Mott MacDonald and law firm Ashurt, following a DEWA awards contract for 200 MW solar planttender launched in May.

The plant in the UAE is due to be operational by 2021 and DEWA expects to generate 1000 MW using CSP technology by 2030.

The project lies within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park, the the largest single-site solar project in the world with a planned capacity of 5000MW by 2030 and a total investment of $13.6bn.

DEWA chief executive Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: “The 200 MW CSP project is another milestone achievement that will put Dubai and the UAE at the forefront of the countries in the region in producing renewable and clean energy.”
