Brazilian utility installs wind measurement tower

Companhia Estadual de Energia Eletrica (CEEE), Brazil’s stater un utility, has completed the installation of the first wind measurement tower in the Rio Grande city in southern most Rio Grande do Sul state, according to a report by ADP Renewable Energy Track.

The tower will house equipment that over the next three years will measure the wind’s direction and speed, as well as the air’s temperature, pressure and humidity, the report cited CEE as saying.

Energy experts expect the data collected will be used for the development of a future wind park in Rio Grande, with some 100 MW of installed capacity.
