A recent auction held in Brazil by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) has awarded 1048 MW in solar projects. A report by Valor Economico magazine claimed that 31 plants are to be built.
Among the companies that have signed contracts is local Renova Energia, which will build four solar power stations in the state of Bahia. Italy’s Enel Green Power will operate 240 MW in the same state.
The Brazilian National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES) will participate in the financing of these solar projects by loaning about $1.5bn, Valor Economico added.
