Brazil approves 55 MW in wind projects

Brazil’s Ministry of Energy has approved three wind power projects that will be key to the country’s energy policy.

The plants will be built in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and are planned to generate a total of 55 MW.à‚  à‚ 

Local firm Companhia Estadual de Energia Eletrica (CEEE) will be in charge of the projects. The contract was awarded in the A-3 public auction, which was held in November 2013.

The plants to be constructed are Fazenda Vera Cruz (22.5 MW), Povo Novo (7.5 MW) and Curupira (25 MW). Each project will feature 2.5 MW wind turbines.
