BMR Energy has received a $62.7m loan to finance a 36 MW wind project in Jamaica.
According to reports, $42.7m will be lent by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), $10m by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and another $10m by the IFC-Canada Climate Change Program. In addition, BMR Energy will invest $26.9m from its budget.
The wind turbines will be supplied by Vestas, the world’s wind power leader. Vestas will be also in charge of the project’s construction, which is set to begin shortly and is expected to finish by early 2016.
