Babcock & Wilcox’s Danish subsidiary B&W Vølund has been awarded a contract worth more than US$80 million to build a 280 MWth biomass boiler system for the Skærbækværket power plant (pictured) near Fredericia, Denmark.
Fuelled primarily by wood chips, as well as other biomass residues, the DONG Energy Thermal Power-owned plant will consist of two 140 MW boilers used to supply district heating and power to residents.
B&W Vølund’s scope consists of the design, manufacture, supply, construction and commissioning of the plant’s boiler system.
The plant is scheduled for completion in April 2017.
