Areva to build Brazil’s largest biomass plant


Areva has confirmed that it is to build what will be Brazil’s largest biomass power plant to date.

The French firm won the contract to build the 150 MW Campo Grande biomass power plant for utility BOLT Energias at the in the state of Bahia, northeast Brazil. The facility will be fueled with woody biomass and is scheduled to start operations in 2017.
The contract requires Areva (Euronext:à‚ CEI) to deliver engineering, procurement and construction services for the plant, which will feature three 50 MW modules.

Areva has already constructed 95 biomass plants globally, with a total installed capacity of over 2,500MW.
