Areva Koblitz eyes up renewables in Latin America

Brazilian renewable energy developer, Areva Koblitz, is planning to build projects worth about $327m throughout Latin America as a result of a drop in local power prices, Bloomberg reports.

Areva, which focuses on biomass and hydroelectric power generation, is seeking to sign contracts to build facilities with 200 MW of installed capacity by 2016, according to commercial director Jose Romero Rego.

The firm may sign a contract to build a 35 MW biomass plant next quarter in Honduras, the executive told Bloomberg.
