Alstom signs Haliade wind turbine deal

Alstom has signed a deal with French manufacturing firm BFG France for the supply of composite structures to make the nacelle casings for its Haliade 150-6MW wind turbine.Alstom Hailiade 150 6MW

The agreement was signed within the framework of a second call for tenders to manufacture offshore wind turbines. The contract will take effect if a consortium of EDF, Alstom and French wind developer WPD is awarded at least one of the two 500 MW wind farms, Treport and Noirmoutier.

Alstom says winning the tenders would allow it to develop and sustain its French industrial base, which is part of France’s ambition to become a technological and industrial leader in offshore wind.

As part of its industrial plan, Alstom is building two plants in Saint-Nazaire that will produce the nacelles and generators, which are set to be completed by the end of the year.
