Weather and vessel scheduling problems put paid to Alstom’s efforts to install its 6 MW Haliade 150 offshore wind turbine off the Belgian coast this week but are planning that the structure is in place on the Belwind 1 wind farm by early October.

One of the solutions to the difficulty is an alternative installation vessel is to be used in order for successful completion at the 165 MW 55 turbine-wind farm.

The wind turbine was scheduled to be completely installed in July, however, pile dredging and grouting of the jacket installation have taken a large part of the slot that Alstom had with the jack-up vessel ‘Pacific Osprey’, which could not be extended.
