Chile’s Element Power is to build a 30 MW solar power plant in the South American nation after being given the green light from the energy authorities, BN Americas reports.

The plant will require an investment of $93m and will be built in the northern region of Chile near the municipality of La Tirana.

It will be connected to the country’s national grid through a 4 km long66 km transmission line.

The solar plant is expected to start operating early next year and it will produce an estimated 72.6 GWh of power per year.
