Tokyo-based Marubeni has announced its 82 MW solar power plant at Oita is operational. It is Japan’s largest solar plant to date, superseding the 70 MW Kagushima Nanatsujima PV plant.
Marubeni is also building a 28.3 MW solar-power station in Miyagi prefecture in northern Japan, the company said earlier this month.
Power from the plant will be sold to Kyushu Electric Power Company under a 20-year power purchase agreement, with annual output expected to total 87 million kWh.
Modules for the project were supplied by Hanwha Q Cells.
