600 MW wind farm set for Tasmania

Hydro Tasmania, the Australian renewable energy firm, has proposed constructing a wind farm at King Island in Tasmania.

The 600 MW wind farm is projected to cost about a$2bn and would consist of 200 wind turbines.

Energy produced from the project is expected to be transmitted into the Australian National Electricity Market through an underwater cable across Bass Strait, reports Energy Business Review, with sufficient energy to power 240,000 homes.
